From the Secretary's Desk

The Asian Australasian Society of Neurological Surgery is the largest continental society of neurosurgeons in the world. It includes China and India which alone constitutes one fifth and one sixth of the world's population. It includes Japan and Korea which have the highest number of neurosurgeons in the world. Having 30 member countries with almost 13,000 neurosurgeons the AASNS represents more than one third of the world's neurosurgical community. Under the presidentship of Prof. Tetsuo Kanno President of the Fujitha Health University the AASNS will strive hard to achieve its primary objective of ensuring that every country in the Asian Australasian region will eventually have neurosurgical services comparable to the best in the world. We will no longer be "have nots": at the worst we will be "have laters". This website is only a beginning to link the various national societies of the region. We are looking forward to hold teleconferences often to foster closer kinship among the neurosurgeons of the region. May I once again request all of you to please send your suggestions so that the AASNS truly reflects the will of the neurosurgical community of this region !!
